Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, beliren yetişkinlerin kimlik gelişim alt boyutları (keşif ve içsel yatırım) üzerinde stresle başa çıkma becerileri alt boyutlarının (kendine güvenli yaklaşım, iyimser yaklaşım, çaresiz yaklaşım, boyun eğici yaklaşım ve sosyal desteğe başvurma yaklaşımı) yordayıcı bir etkisinin bulunup bulunmadığını incelemektir. Ayrıca, kimlik gelişiminin ve stresle başa çıkma becerilerinin alt boyutlarının cinsiyete göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma grubunu, 391 (%63,3) kadın, 227 (%36,7) erkek olmak üzere toplam 618 beliren yetişkin oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcılar 18-29 yaş aralığındadır, yaş ortalamaları 22.86’dır. Veriler, “Kişisel Bilgi Formu”, “Ego Kimlik Süreci Ölçeği”, “Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır ve SPSS 22.0 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Analizde ilişkisiz örneklemlerde t-testine, Pearson korelasyon ve çoklu regresyon analizine başvurulmuştur. Sonuçta, keşif kendine güvenli yaklaşım, çaresiz yaklaşım ve sosyal desteğe başvurma yaklaşımı tarafından pozitif ve anlamlı düzeyde yordanmaktadır. İyimser ve boyun eğici yaklaşım, keşfi negatif ve anlamlı düzeyde yordamaktadır. İçsel yatırım, kendine güvenli ve iyimser yaklaşım tarafından pozitif ve anlamlı düzeyde yordanmaktadır. İçsel yatırım, çaresiz yaklaşım tarafından negatif ve anlamlı düzeyde yordanmaktadır. Boyun eğici yaklaşımın ve sosyal desteğe başvurma yaklaşımının ise içsel yatırım üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmamaktadır. Keşiften elde edilen veriler, cinsiyete göre anlamlı olarak farklılaşmamaktadır. Ancak içsel yatırım, erkekler lehine cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir. Kendine güvenli ve iyimser yaklaşım, erkekler lehine cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir. Çaresiz yaklaşım ve sosyal destek arama yaklaşımı, kadınlar lehine cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir. Boyun eğici yaklaşım ise cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir şekilde farklılaşmamaktadır. Bulgular ilgili alanyazın bağlamında tartışılmıştır.
The main purpose of this study is to whether the sub-dimensions of coping with stress (self-confident approach, optimistic approach, helpless approach, submissive approach and seeking of social support approach) have a predictive effect on the identity development sub-dimensions (exploration and commitment processes) of emerging adults. In addition, it was aimed to examine whether the sub-dimensions of identity development and coping skills differ according to gender. Relational survay research model was used in the study. The research group consisted of 391 (63.3%) women, 227 (36.7%) of which are males an it constitutes a total of 618 emerging adults,. Participants are between the ages of 18-29, and average of age is 22.86. The data were collected with the "Personal Information Form", "Ego Identity Process Questionnare", "Styles of Coping with Stress Scale" and analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 package program. In the analysis, unrelated samples t-test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were used. After all, the exploration process is predicted positively and significantly by the self-confident approach, helpless approach and the approach of seeking of social support. Optimistic and submissive approach predicts exploration process negatively and significantly. Commitment process is predicted positively and significantly by the self-confident and optimistic approach. Commitment process is predicted negatively and significantly by the helpless approach. The submissive approach and the seeking of social support approach do not have a significant effect on commitment process. Data of exploration process do not differ significantly by gender. However, commitment process shows a significant difference in favor of men by gender. Self-confident and optimistic approach demonstrate a significant difference in favor of men by gender. The helpless approach and the approach to seeking of social support approach demonstrate a significant difference in favor of women by gender. On the other hand, the submissive approach does not differ significantly by gender. The findings are discussed in this context of the in question literatüre.
