Abstract:

This research aims to determine the views of teachers working in primary education institutions on values education. With this study, it is expected that the values education practices of educational institutions, which are more needed today, should be determined, and that necessary precautions should be taken. The study was designed by the phenomenology method, one of the qualitative research methods. The study consists of teachers working in primary schools located within the borders of Sur and Bağlar districts of Diyarbakır province in the 2021-2022 academic year. In this study, in which the qualitative research method was used, the data were obtained from 20 teachers working in primary schools, by the semi-structured and non-directive interview technique. r. Validity and reliability were tried to be ensure by explaining the data collection process in detail and by citing direct quotations from the answers given by the participants. As a result of the study, it was seen that teachers stated that values education had many positive effects on students such as contributing to their personal development, being tolerant towards the environment, increasing moral sensitivity. In addition, it has been concluded that students gain academic success, responsibility and environmental awareness. It was emphasized that in order to increase the effectiveness of values education, activities and training programs should be organized to increase cooperation between education administrators, teachers and families.
