Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to reveal how cultural value education occurs in the fourth class of primary education in Turkey. The participants of the research conducted by adopting the situation study scheme from the quality research approaches are the class teacher who works in the fourth class of a primary school located in the center of the province of Malatya in the spring semester of the 2013-2014 academic year and the students who study in this class. The research data consists of classroom observation, half-built conversations with teachers and students and field notes kept by the researcher in the observation process and documents containing the first-class fourth-class Turkish curriculum, workbook, assistant language knowledge book, photos obtained in the observation process. The observation data, interviews and field notes obtained from the research were analyzed through content analysis. Documents have been treated as supporting research data. According to the results obtained on the basis of the research findings; in relation to the cultural values included in the fourth class Turkish lesson, the theme "Language, History, Religion, Tradition-Terence, Art, Cities, Symbols of Independence" included, in the fourth class Turkish lesson, the activities aimed at the implementation of the cultural values included in the fourth class Turkish lesson, the theme "Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Visual Reading-Visual Presentation Area" appeared. In light of these topics, it has been shown that the cultural values are included in the fourth class of primary school, that students have achieved achievements in cultural values, and that the teacher tries to acquire these values within the framework of the basic language skills.
