Abstract:

While providing important information about people’s behaviors, characteristics, cultures, they can also be the subject of written works. In this way, the characteristics of the heroes become an important knowledge. Specifically the characteristics of the heroes in the texts that students in the developmental age read in the classbooks in schools are highlighted in the name of their individual development. Thus, the characteristics that students can get from the heroes of the texts they read in the lessons appear to us as a possibility that they will provide a mental and behavioral contribution to the individual. This study was done with the aim of identifying the heroic characteristics in the story texts contained in the Turkish curriculum books and identifying the characteristics that students want to be given with the story heroes. This research was carried out in accordance with the visual scan model. The sample of the study consists of high school (5, 6, 7, 8) MEB and private publications, which was taught in the 2015-2016 educational year, as proposed by the Ministry of Education, and has been achieved to the entire work universe. In the research, documentary scanning techniques were used in the collection of data. In the analysis of the work data, content analysis and frequency analysis were used. According to the research, the heroic characteristics of the stories contained in the Turkish curriculum books have been determined. When looking at the story and the hero rankings in the first two places 5. There are 11 stories and 15 heroes, 6 in class. There are 7 stories and 10 heroes. According to all the texts contained in the Turkish curriculum books, it was found that 29 writers had more than one edition of their works. In high school lessons, the story heroes found that the characteristics of the heroes were not intense. Looking at the characteristics of the story heroes found in the publications, the characteristic that was most included was found to be "mighty".
