Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the teaching of students working in English as a foreign language with the use of film. Language experts accept that when it comes to film use, students are more motivated, especially the contribution of it to being an activity that plays a role as a supporting authentic content. In language teaching, watching a movie alone is not enough. This is probably because the students watched the film not in English, but in their own languages. English can be used in many activities in film, language and culture focus. With a good planning, it can soften the learning environment as an activity that contributes to students’ pleasant time. This also requires a very good plan. Using these activities will give students the courage, will be a motivating incentive element. Verbal and other skills work is placed through the film with general ideas, functions and grammar elements. With a good choice of film, the students’ interest in the lesson will increase even more. The students’ film viewing objectives should be determined first. Films contribute to the language and social development of students. The use of these activities will contribute to the student’s expression, toning, axis, word, authentic, cultural transition and speech skills. Here are the activities prepared during and at the end of the film viewing. The article helps in teaching the English language of the films usually speaking, and more effort can be spent in producing these new activities.
