Türkçe Öğretmenlerinin Görsel Okumayla İlgili Görüşlerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract:

Teknolojideki gelişmelerle beraber görseller yazılı ve basılı araçlara da girmiş gazeteler, dergiler, hikâye kitapları ve özellikle de ders kitaplarında önemli bir bölüm görsellere ayrılmıştır. Hatta öyle bir noktaya gelinmiştir ki görsellerin olmadığı veya yetersiz olduğu ders kitapları sıkıcı bulunmuş ve kalıcı öğrenmeyi engellediği düşünülmeye başlamıştır. Bütün bu gelişmeler görsellerden anlam çıkarma yani görsel okuma kavramını doğurmuştur. Bu bakış açısıyla görsel okumayla ve özellikle de görsel okuma eğitiminin okullardaki uygulanma durumuyla ilgili olarak Türkçe öğretmenlerinin görüşlerinin alınması önem arz etmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı Türkçe öğretmenlerinin görsel okuma hakkındaki görüşlerinin incelenmesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden görüşme tekniği kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Çalışmada ortaokullarda görev yapan Türkçe öğretmenlerinin görsel okumayla ilgili bilgi düzeyleri belirlenmeye çalışılmış, öğretmenlerin görsel okumayla ilgili bilgi düzeyleri, mezun oldukları fakülte ve bölüm, yaş, çalışma yılı vb. bireysel özelliklerine göre değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada öğretmenlerin görsel okumaya ilişkin çok düşük düzeyde bilgi sahibi oldukları, görsel okuma eğitimi hakkında yeterlikleri olmadığı, öğretmenlerin görsel okumayla ilgili gerek lisans eğitimi döneminde gerekse lisans eğitimi sonrası herhangi bir eğitim almadıkları ve öğretmenlerin genellikle görsel okuma etkinliği yaptırmadıkları sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.

With the advances in technology, images have also entered the written and printed tools; newspapers, magazines, story books and a significant part of the lesson books have been allocated to images. It has even come to a point that the lesson books that have not or have been insufficient have been found boring and have begun to be thought to prevent permanent learning. All of these developments gave birth to the concept of visual reading. In this perspective, it is important to take the views of Turkish teachers in relation to visual reading and especially the state of application of visual reading education in schools. The purpose of this study was to study the opinions of Turkish teachers about visual reading. The work was performed using the interview technique from the research methods of quality. In the study, the data was collected in a semi-configured interview form. In the study, Turkish teachers who work in high schools have been attempted to determine the level of knowledge about visual reading, the level of knowledge about visual reading, the faculty and department they graduate, age, year of work, etc. It is evaluated according to individual characteristics. The study found that teachers have a very low level of knowledge of visual reading, have no skills in visual reading education, that teachers have not received any training in visual reading in the course of the bachelor’s degree or after the bachelor’s degree, and that teachers often do not perform visual reading activity.

In fact, it has been reached that the textbooks that are not or lack of images have been found to be boring and have been considered to prevent permanent learning. All these developments gave rise to the concept of visual reading. From this point of view, it is important to get the opinions of Turkish teachers about visual reading and especially about the state of visual reading education in schools. In this direction, the aim of this study is to examine the opinions of Turkish teachers about visual reading. The study was conducted by using interview technique from qualitative research methods. Data were collected by semi-structured interview form. The aim of the study was to determine the level of knowledge of Turkish teachers working in secondary schools about visual reading, the level of knowledge of teachers about visual reading, the faculty and department they graduated, age, working year, etc. evaluated according to individual characteristics. Teachers in the research; it was concluded that the teachers did not have sufficient knowledge about visual reading, they did not have any competencies about visual reading education, and they did not receive any education about visual reading both during the undergraduate education period and after the undergraduate education and the teachers did not have visual reading activity.
