Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni adaylarının popüler kültür kavramına ilişkin görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Öğretmen adaylarının oluşturdukları metaforlar, gerek eğitim gerekse toplumsal yönden katkı sunacaktır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenoloji (olgubilim) deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi ile 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılı güz döneminde Türkiye’de iki devlet üniversitesinin eğitim fakültesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 233 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni adayları oluşturmaktadır. Öğretmen adaylarının popüler kültür kavramına ilişkin algılarını metafor yoluyla belirlemek amacıyla, “Popüler kültür, …………. gibidir; çünkü …………” ifadesinden oluşan bir form aracılığıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda popüler kültür kavramına ilişkin olarak sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni adayları tarafından toplam 22 kavramsal kategoride 146 metafor geliştirdiği, geliştirilen metafor sayısının ise 205 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının popüler kültür kavramına yönelik bilgilerinin yeterli düzeyde olduğu saptanmıştır. Fakat metaforlar ve ilgili metaforların geliştirilme gerekçeleri öğretmen adaylarının önemli bir kısmının popüler kültür kavramına yönelik olumsuz bir algıya sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.
The aim of this study is to show the opinions of social information teachers candidates on the popular culture concept. The metaphors created by the teachers candidates will provide social contribution if necessary to education. In the study, the phenomenology (olgubilim) design was used from the quality research methods. The study group consists of 233 social information teachers candidates who are studying at the educational faculty of two state universities in Turkey during the 2022-2023 academic year. In order to determine the perceptions of the teaching candidates about the concept of popular culture through the metafor, " The popular culture ........................ It’s like, because ....” The data is collected through a form form. The study found that 146 metaphors were developed in a total of 22 conceptual categories by social information teachers candidates regarding the popular culture concept, and 205 metaphors were developed. The research has found that the teacher candidates have sufficient knowledge about the concept of popular culture. But the reasons for the development of metaphors and related metaphors indicate that a significant portion of teaching candidates have a negative perception of the popular culture concept.
The aim of this study is to reveal the views of social studies teacher candidates on the concept of popular culture. The metaphors created by teacher candidates will contribute to both education and social aspects. Phenomenology (phenomenology) design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 233 social studies teacher candidates who are studying at the faculty of education of two state universities in Turkey in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year with the criterion sampling method from purposeful sampling methods. In order to determine the perceptions of teacher candidates about the concept of popular culture through metaphor, “Popular culture, ............. it is like; because ............” data were collected through a form consisting of a statement. As a result of the study, it was found that social studies teacher candidates developed 146 metaphors in a total of 22 conceptual categories regarding the concept of popular culture, and the number of metaphors developed was 205. As a result of the research, it was determined that the knowledge of teacher candidates about the concept of popular culture is at a sufficient level. However, the metaphors and the reasons for developing the related metaphors show that a significant part of the teacher candidates have a negative perception of the concept of popular culture.
