Abstract:

This research has been carried out with the aim of identifying the sources of problems that imam-hatip high school managers encounter and their solutions proposals. In the study designed from the Nicel research methods to the visual scan model, the full number sample method has been reached to all school managers in the universe. The research was carried out in the sample of 2173 school managers who are in charge in the 2018-2019 educational year at the Imam-Hatip high schools in Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Çorum, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Istanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, Konya, Samsun and Trabzon. For the purpose of collecting research data, a data collection tool was developed by the researcher with the "Nominal Group Technique". The importance and priority ranges for each size in the scale are determined by visual statistical methods. According to the research findings, imam-hatip managers face a wide variety of issues, such as general education and religious teaching, student, staff, administrative, business and non-school issues. The first three problem areas that managers encounter are identified as student-based problems, out-of-school problems and staff-based problems. According to the school managers, the lack of expectations from the future of students, continuity and lack of interest in classes; the lack of material resources provided to schools, the lack of interest in teachers, the lack of curriculum and the lack of interest in teachers, and the lack of interest in teachers. Furthermore, strict bureaucracy, unhappy managers, school safety issues, building and equipment failures and Syrian students are among the major issues. Ensuring the functionality of democratic decision-making processes, increasing material resources and monitoring a fair policy in the distribution of resources are among the solutions proposed by school managers. The research is believed to be a significant contribution to the literature of religious education by revealing the problem sources of the imam-hatip high school managers, and to highlight the new fields of study.
