Abstract:

Women have had a great place in the construction activities in every period. The valide sultan has spent a large portion of their wealth on good works. Pertevniyal Valide Sultan, the wife of Sultan Mahmud II and the mother of Sultan Abdülaziz, is also in a very important position in this regard. It is known that Pertevniyal Valide Sultan has done many foundation works within and outside Istanbul and has organized sixteen foundation for them. Pertevniyal Valide Sultan formed a great authority over his son, and during the valide sultanate he had a great political influence. With this influence, Valide Sultan has very wide rights and has achieved a great reputation. The good works he began in the period of femininity reached the peak in the valide sultanate period, and after the valide sultanate he continued his good works.Many of the structures were interested in both construction and repair, he was also in aid to those in need.Not only in Anatolia, but also in the Balkans he made structures showing the power of the empire.One of these structures is the Pertevnial Valide Sultan Camis in the Seniçe City of Serbia in the northern Sancak region. Serbian: Senica-Sjenica, Boşnakça: Senica, called Sjenica, is located on the New Sunday-Seniçe-New Varoş highway, near the Ibre River.There is no previous study of the Pertevniyal Valide Sultan Mosque in Senica. In this study, the Pertevniyal Valide Sultan Mosque, which is the only selatine mosque in Serbia, which still exists today, was studied with the architectural details and history of the Pertevniyal Valide Sultan Mosque, which was recognized as a cultural monument in 1989.
