Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to analyze the formation and the representation process of the other identities which are shaped through “us and them “contradiction. In the context of formation, the Social Identity Theory is taken into account at first, subsequently, prejudgments and stereotypical expressions are examined which considered to be indispensable in order to consolidate the formation of the other identity. Nevertheless, in the sense of representation, media impacts of the other identity are stressed and the other identities of the TV Series “Kayıp Şehir” are taken into consideration. As can be noted from the research, the presentations of others in media are generally centered upon prejudice and exclusion. Since TV Series “Kayıp Şehir” aims to overcome this prejudice and gives wide coverage to the others more than the average media broadcast, it is considered to be an asset and for this reason, it is widely examined in this research.
