Abstract:

The developments and changes in social, cultural and economic life, especially the developments in the field of technology and communication, rapidly change the context in which traditional children’s games are performed. Children, for reasons such as traffic and safety problems, are not able to play the game actively in the cities, because there are not enough and proper playgrounds. The game houses that notice the negative yields of this process, which begins to make children dependent on tablets, consoles and the internet, offer children the places and opportunities where they can play games, including some traditional children's games. The article focuses on the individual and social functions of these games, giving information about the traditional children's games - names, contents, forms of play, places and times of play, players-compiled from children aged 36 to 60 months. The materials obtained by the techniques of "participation", "observation" and "interview" were based in the detection and comments made. The game houses have been shown to have important functions in the form of the preparation of the substructure of a healthy society, the preservation and transfer of culture.
