Abstract:

Internship is an application that allows students to consolidate the theoretical education they see in the field during their learning process. Students, thanks to the internship, find the possibility to apply the theoretical education they receive, while also find the possibility to recognize the environment they will work in the future. Therefore, the practice of stages is a matter that both school and institutions need to consider. This study also aims to reveal the differences between the opinions of students at the Health Services Professional High School, before and after the application of a summer internship. The study included 530 students who conducted a summer internship at Yozgat Bozok University and the University of Bartın Health Services Professional High School. For the collection of data in the research, the survey developed by researchers was used. In the analysis of the obtained data, the number, percentage, arithmetic average, standard deviation, t test analysis for related matched samplings has been used. According to the results of the study, the participants responded to the statements they gave before and after the internship that the internship was necessary for their professional development and they did not see it as a waste of time, that a salary should be paid during the time they went to the internship, that the paid salary should be increased, that their teachers should be in contact with the students during the internship and that the staff should help the internshipers.
