Abstract:

It is a well-known fact that in our history of westernization the Tanzimat era has a significant place. Because the decisions and innovations made during this period have led to radical changes in the political and cultural life of the Ottoman State. Together with all the literaries of the time, Ahmet Mithat Efendi is a witness to these developments. Ahmet Mithat Efendi, who has earned many works to our literature by writing about almost every subject, has addressed many aspects of our family and community life in these works. The novel "Hikmet-i Peder" is also one of the important works in which the father stands on the concept of the father and questiones the role of the children in the formation of the family, marriage and education. In this study, a screening model of quality research methods was used. The wisdom-i father’s novels include “Hussein Fellâh”, “Müşahedat”, “A Turk in Paris”, “Old Letters”, “Only Seventeen Years”. "Acaib-i Alem", "Zengi", "Taaffüf", "Diplomatic Girl", "Felatun Mr. Number Lord", the father's characters in their novels have been studied. In general, the names of some of the father characters in the novels are given in the novel. In the Old Letters, Saim Bey, Hicabi Efendi in Acaib-i Alem, Canbert Bey in the Chengi novel, Daniş Bey in the Taaffüf novel, Jean Pepres in the Diplomatic Girl novel, Felatun Beyle Rakim Efendi in the novel, and Mustafa Meraki Efendi in the novel. At the age of seven in the novel, the father of Kalyopi, the father of Hussein in the novel Hussein Fellah, the father of Nasuh Mr. in the novel A Turk in Paris, and the names are not mentioned. In the novel of Makhedat there is Ahmet Mithat as the father figure. The knowledge of the father’s character in the novel, which is the basis of the research, has also been given profession and has not been given the name. The study has shown that Ahmet Mithat Efendi has pointed out the importance of the concept of father in our family and community life.
