Yusuf Şükrü, Harput’ta doğup, tahsilinin bir kısmını burada, kalanı ise Mısır ve İstanbul’da tamamlamıştır. İstanbul Vefâ Medresesi’nde bir süre görev yaptıktan sonra Medine’deki Mahmûdiyye Medresesi müderrisliğine tayin edilen Harpûtî, ömrünün sonuna kadar burada yaşamıştır. Çalışmamızda Harpûtî’nin hayatı, ilmî kişiliği, özgün ve şerh çalışmaları ince-lenmektedir. Harpûtî’nin tespit edebildiğimiz yedi eseri vardır. Bu eserlerden bazı-ları yazma bazıları ise matbudur. Özgün çalışmaları; akâid konusunda Rumûzü’t-Tevhîd, nesep tarihi ve siyer alanında Silsile-i Safâ ve halka ve yöneticilere öğütler içeren Nasîhat-nâme adlı eserleridir. Şerh çalışmaları ise hadis metedolijisini ele alan Şerhu Usûli’l-Hadîs, mantık ilminde Nâmûsü’l-Îkân, kelam alanında Hâşiye-i ‘İsâm ve günlük hayatta okunan zikir, salavat ve duaları içeren Menba‘i’s-Se‘âde adlı eserleridir. Osmanlı’nın gerek kültürel gerekse medrese geleneğinin son temsilcilerinden olan Harpûtî’nin hayatı, ilmî kişiliği ve telifatının bilinmesi, tanıtılması önem arz etmektedir. Müderris, mutasavvıf ve şairlik yönlerini bir arada bulunduran Harpû-tî’nin bu yönleriyle eserlerinde nasıl birliktelik sağladığını göstermek işin bir başka önemli boyutudur. Harput’tan çıkıp Osmanlı’nın farklı bölgelerinde müderrislik görevini ifa eden Harpûtî’nin hayatı, ilmî kişiliği ve eserlerinin tanıtılmasını amaçladığımız bu çalış-mada edindiğimiz sonuçları şöyle sıralayabiliriz. Harpûtî, ilmî ve tasavvufî kimli-ğiyle yaşadığı çağda toplumsal ve siyasal sorunlara duyarsız kalmayarak çeşitli dallarda Arapça ve Osmanlı Türkçesiyle telif ve şerh eserler kaleme almıştır. O, temel İslâmî ilimlerin yanı sıra mantık, siyaset ve nesep tarihi gibi alanlarda da geniş bir perspektif sahibidir. Nitekim Harpûtî’nin siyaset, kelam, siyer alanındaki telif eserlerinin yanında; usûlü’l-hadis ve mantık ilmine dair şerhleri de müstakil birer eser hüviyetindedir. Harpûtî, müderrisliğinin yanı sıra tasavvufla ilgilenerek Nakşibendî ve Şazilî Tarikatı’nın halifeliğini yapmıştır. Ayrıca şair olarak da tanı-nan Harpûtî, görüşlerini anlatmada şiirlerini bir araç olarak kullanmıştır.
Joshua was born in Harput and completed some of his assets here, the rest in Egypt and Istanbul. Harpûtî, who was appointed to the Medresesi of Mahmûdiye Medresesi in Medina after serving for a period of time in Istanbul Vefâ Medresesi, lived here until the end of his life. In our work, the life of Harpûtî, the scientific personality, the original and glorious works are subtle. There are seven kinds of things we can find. Some of these works are written and some of them are written. Their original works are the works of Rumi't-Tevhîd about the Akâid, Nessep history and Silsile-i Safâ and the people and the rulers of Nasîhat-Nâme which contain advice. To show how Harpû-tî, which combines mutasavvıf and poetry aspects with these aspects of his works, is another important dimension of the work. We can rank the results we have obtained in this work that we aim to promote the life, the scientific personality and works of Harput, who has been out of Harput and performed the mission of mastery in the various regions of Ottoman, as follows. He lived with Harpûtî, scientific and tasavvufî identity in the age of his life, not sensitive to social and political problems, and in various branches of Arabic and Ottoman Turkish, he received authorship and honorary works. He has a broad perspective in the fields such as basic Islamic sciences as well as logic, politics and history. In the words of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
