Abstract:

In general, international migration from underdeveloped countries to developed countries brought along some economic, social, and political problems. The fact that Turkey is both a country that receives migration and gives migration causes it to become the focus of these negative effects caused by migration. The sample of the study is important in terms of international migration. The subject of the study is the bi-directional migration movement between Turkey and the Paterson region of the state of New Jersey in the United States. The study aims to analyze the main determining factors and reverse migration trends of individuals migrating from Turkey to the Paterson region of the state of New Jersey in the United States. To accomplish this goal with 142 volunteers who immigrated from Turkey survey was conducted, including one-to-one and over the internet in 2017. According to the findings obtained from the study; The majority of individuals with high levels of education and immigrating for educational purposes don’t think to go back to Turkey. Besides, the majority of individuals working in qualified jobs and with high income don’t think to go back to Turkey or they are indecisive. The majority of individuals who migrate for economic reasons have a high school education, low income, and work in unqualified jobs have an idea of returnıng to Turkey.
