Abstract:

The purpose of this work is to examine the free-time attitudes and levels of disappointment of the staff of the Direct Security Directorate. The objectives of the research include to identify what kind of time security personnel in the Düzce Provincial Security Directorate participate in the activities, how much time they can spend on the activities they participate and the effects of the activities they participate on the work performance and the levels of disappointment. The universe of the investigation was formed by 350 police officers randomly chosen from 850 police officers in the Düzce Provincial Security Directorate. In the process of application of the survey to the sample group, the face-to-face interview method was used and the survey was applied by the researcher after prior information on the research was made. In data analysis, the SPSS statistical program was used and the meaning level (p<0.05) was determined. In the study, the Turkish adaptation developed by Ragheb and Beard (1982) as a measurement tool was used by "Leisure Attitude Scale: LAS" and the Turkish adaptation developed by Dr. Aaron T.Beck (1974) by "War and Shahin" and the Despair scale. The study found that the insights of disappointment were lower according to the participants’ perceptions, that the male safety staff had a higher level of disappointment compared to the female safety staff, that the safety staff working in the district center had a higher level of disappointment, that the ageing safety staff had a higher level of disappointment, that the sick safety staff had a higher level of disappointment compared to those who had no disease, that the safety staff had a higher level of disappointment compared to the female safety staff, that the participants had a negative relationship between their free time attitudes and disappointment perceptions.
