Çocuk, Teknoloji ve Medya: Okul Öncesi ve Sınıf Öğretmenlerinin Görüşleri Üzerine Bir Çalışma

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi ve ilkokul birinci sınıf öğretmenlerinin eğitim uygulamalarında teknoloji ve medya kullanımlarına ilişkin görüşlerini incelemek ve her iki öğretmen grubunun teknoloji ve medya kullanımları arasındaki benzer ve farklı yönleri belirlemektir. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını 22 ilkokul birinci sınıf öğretmeni ve 26 okul öncesi öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın verileri alan uzmanı görüşleri ve ilgili literatür doğrultusunda hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla elde edilmiştir. Toplanan verilerin analizi nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden içerik analiz yöntemiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. İçerik analizi sonucu elde edilen temalar teknolojinin eğitimdeki yeri, teknolojinin eğitim ortamında kullanımı, medya ve medyanın eğitimde kullanımı ve sosyal medya ve eğitimde kullanımı olarak belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre teknolojinin eğitimde kullanımı temasına yönelik yapılan incelemede okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin teknolojinin zamandan tasarruf sağlaması ve çocukların farklı duyularını uyarması özelliğini ön plana çıkardıkları belirlenmiş, birinci sınıf öğretmenlerinin ise teknolojinin bilgiye kolay ulaşım sağladığını belirtmişlerdir. Okul öncesi öğretmenleri teknolojinin eğitim ortamında kullanımıyla ilgili olarak öğrenmenin kalıcı hale geldiğini vurgularken sınıf öğretmenleri eğitimde fırsat eşitliği sağlandığını ve anlamayı kolaylaştırdığını ifade etmişlerdir. Sosyal medyanın eğitimde kullanımı temasıyla ilgili olarak okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin sosyal medyayı farklı etkinlik ve yöntemler bulma amacıyla kullanırken, sınıf öğretmenlerinin sosyal medyayı daha çok velilerle haberleşme amacıyla kullandıkları belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar ilgili literatür doğrultusunda tartışılmış ve erken çocukluk dönemi eğitim programlarında medya ve teknoloji kullanımına yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the views of pre-school and primary school first-class teachers on the use of technology and media in educational practices and to identify the similar and different aspects between the use of technology and media of both teachers groups. The study includes 22 primary school first-class teachers and 26 pre-school teachers. The data of the study was obtained through expert opinions and a semi-structured interview form prepared in accordance with the relevant literature. The analysis of the data collected was carried out by the method of content analysis from the quality research methods. The subjects obtained by the content analysis are defined as the place of technology in education, the use of technology in the educational environment, the use of media and media in education and the use of social media and education. According to the findings obtained in the study on the use of technology in education, the pre-school teachers have determined that the technology is time-saving and the ability to alert children to different senses is highlighted, and the first-class teachers have determined that the technology provides easy communication to information. Pre-school teachers emphasized that learning in relation to the use of technology in the educational environment has become permanent, while class teachers have expressed that equal opportunities in education are provided and it makes it easier to understand. In relation to the topic of social media use in education, pre-school teachers use social media to find different activities and methods, class teachers have determined that they use social media more to communicate with their parents. The results obtained in the study were discussed in accordance with the relevant literature and recommendations for the use of media and technology in early childhood educational programs were presented.

The purpose of this study is to examine the opinions of preschool and first grade teachers on technology and media use in education and to identify the similarities and differences between these two group of teachers according to their technology and media use in education. Participants of this study were 22 first grade primary school teachers and 29 preschool teachers. The data of this study was gathered via semi-structured interview form that was formed in accordance with the opinions of field experts and the related literature. The content analysis method was used to analyze the data. As a result of the analyzes the following four themes were identified: The place of technology in education, technology use in educational setting, media and media use in eduction and social media and it’s use in education. Findings indicated that preschool teachers gave saving on time and stimulating different senses of children prominence while first grade teachers emphasized the easy access to information. While preschool teachers emphasized the importance of technology for permanent learning, primary school teachers emphasized its importance on providing equal opportunities in education and easing understanding. Related to social media use in education preschool teachers expressed that they used social media for learning different educational activities and methods while primary school teachers use social media for communicating with parents. The results of this study were discussed in accordance with the related literature and suggestions were provided related to technology and media use in early childhood education programs.
