Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine resiliencies and future expectations of preschool teacher candidates. The study was developed according to the relational screening model. The sample group consists of 328 teacher candidates studying in an undergraduate preschool education program. 262 teacher candidates are female and 66 are male. 141 teacher candidates are 18-20 years old; 167 are 21-25; 20 are 26 years old and over. 165 participants of the study group are in year 1, 51 are in year 2 and 112 are in year 3. The Resilience Scale for Adults, Future Expectations Scale and the “Personal Information Scale”, developed by the researchers, were used as the data collection instruments of the study. The data collection phase proceeded after the approval of Near East University Scientific Researches Ethics Committee. Data were collected through a GOOGLE form sent to teacher candidates who volunteered to participate in the study. According to the study results, resiliencies and future expectations of preschool teacher candidates significantly differ in favor of female students. Resilience and future expectation levels of candidate teachers significantly differ with respect to the class year variable. Resilience levels of preschool teacher candidates are significantly and positively related to their future expectation levels. Resilience levels of candidate teachers significantly predict their future expectation levels.
