Abstract:

In recent years there have been a number of changes in the process of teaching and appointment of teachers. The most affected of these changes are the teachers candidates who continue their training. This study aims to identify the views of the students of the final class who are studying in the field of social information education and the teaching profession and the system of appointment and placement of teachers. The study adopted the Qualitative Research Approach used a semi-configured conversation form as a data collection tool. The pilot application of the form prepared according to the expert opinion was carried out with four social information teachers candidates. 25 teachers participated in the study. The research data was collected in the spring period of the 2017-2018 academic year. Interviews with the teacher candidates were first recorded in audio and then written in the computer environment, according to the content analysis. In the analysis of the research, a faculty member was assisted by a specialist in both social information and quality research approaches. The conclusion was that participants’ opinions about the future of the teaching profession often have negative qualities. They also found that the teachers candidates found their education in the university insufficient in terms of examinations. Teacher candidates have been determined to believe that the best method for appointing and placing teachers is the central exams, especially due to the excess of the number of candidates. But the teachers candidates were also found to be opposed to the oral examination (mulakata) for reasons such as "torpil, men's scratch". According to the teachers candidates, if the oral exam will be conducted, it will be better to be conducted in the graduation stage rather than in the entry stage of the educational faculty. In addition, it is also found that the teachers candidates believe that the existing exams are insufficient in the selection of qualified teachers.
