Abstract:

Current research aims to reveal the values of importance in Turkish history and culture and how these values are awarded. The research is designed by the method of document examination. The six works written on the moral system of the past periods have been identified and analyzed by visual analysis. The expressions of value by the researchers and the methods of their provision were listed separately and made a common decision by comparing. The research has found 40 values. It can also be seen as a separate finding that some of the emerging values are not included in the programs today. As a method of valuation, rather than systematic methods, in a comprehensive sense to every dimension (family, school, environment/community, teacher, educational system, etc.) The responsibilities are determined and presented in the table. The most common method is to be a role-model. The other is to give the value to the individuals through various ways (such as giving advice, establishing identity with good examples, transmitting value from stories). But it appears that in value education a method similar to the proposed approaches today has not been applied in the past (except for interpretation). However, the usefulness of today’s approaches is still a matter of discussion.
