Kappadokia Bölgesi tarihin hemen tüm tarihi devirleri içinde önemli bir konuma sahip olmuştur. Bölge bazen ticari faaliyetlerin ulaştığı son nokta olurken bazı zamanlarda ise bir geçiş güzergâhını oluşturmuştur. Kappadokia, Orta Anadolu Bölgesi’nin merkezî noktasında yer almaktadır. Bölgenin bulunduğu bu konum iklim ve bitki örtüsü üzerinde olduğu gibi buradaki tarım ve hayvancılık gibi temel geçim kaynakları üzerinde de etkilidir. Karasal iklim yapısının karakteristik bitki örtüsünü ise bozkır oluşturmaktadır. Bu durum bölgede özellikle küçükbaş hayvancılığın yapılması ve gelişiminde mühim bir yere sahip olmuş olmalıdır. Tüm bu özellikler sığır, koyun, keçi, katır ve at bölgedeki hayvan yetiştiriciliğinde önemini muhafaza etmiştir. Özellikle bunlardan son ikisi Eskiçağ halkları arasında büyük bir üne sahip olmuştur. Bu çalışmada Kappadokia Bölgesi’nin temel ekonomik kaynaklarından biri olan hayvancılık ve buna bağlı ekonomik faaliyetler incelenecektir.
The Kappadokia region has had an important position in almost all historical periods of history. The area is sometimes the final point where commercial activities reach, while sometimes it has formed a transition path. Kappadokia is located at the central point of the Central Anadolu Region. This location of the region is also effective on the basic resource of life, such as agriculture and livestock, as well as on the climate and plant cover. The characteristic of the land climate structure of the plant cover forms boiler. This situation should have had an important place in the production and development of small-powered livestock in the region. All of these properties have retained their importance in cattle, sheep, goats, cattle and horses in the area’s animal cultivation. The last two of them had a great reputation among the ancient peoples. This study will explore the livestock and related economic activities, which are one of the key economic resources of the Kappadokia Region.
