Abstract:

Good assessment of your free time provides physiological and psychological benefits. It is important for the university youth to have difficulties in assessing how to evaluate the time left from their lessons and to identify these difficulties and to produce solutions. The study of the elements that influence the participation of university students in their leisure activities in terms of some variables has made the purpose of this study. The universe of research was formed by the Bachelor students who studied in the 2017-2018 academic year at the University of Fırat, and the sample group was formed by 255 participants who were selected by the random sample method from the students of the recreation department who studied in the Faculty of Sports Sciences and participated voluntarily in the research. The data of the study was collected using the "Free Time Barriers Scale" which Karaküçük and Gürbüz(2016) adapted to the Turkish language with the personal information form.The data obtained from the study was analyzed using the spss 22 package program. In the analysis of the two groups, the Independent Samples t test, and in the analysis of the multiple groups, the One Way Anova test were applied. The Tukey test was applied to determine meaningful differences. The level of significance is p<0.05. As a result, the students who study the gender in the recreation department were female in the scale of individual psychology, lack of knowledge, lack of time and interest in the lower dimensions, while the male students received higher scores in the lower dimensions of lack of friends, the ages of 21-23 from the age group of 18-20, the level of well-being of the good and the very good have higher scores than the conditions of the bad and the very bad. The fact that students studying in the recreation department were more interested in the activities related to the educational field as a field of activity in their leisure time was one of the remarkable results of this study.
