Abstract:

The aim of this study is to identify and evaluate the read habits and preferences of primary school students of 4th grade. While some students love reading and prefer to read at every opportunity, this study requires answers to the questions why some students don’t like reading, what students want to read more, what they expect from reading, how they perceive reading, what circumstances and conditions can read more if they change. The work group of this visual-qualificated research consists of 300 primary school 4th grade students, selected by proportional layer sampling and systematic sampling methods from probability-based sampling methods. The research results consisting of 11 questions "First. Students’ read habits and preferences have been gathered with the title survey. The analysis of quantitative data consisting of the answers that students give to the data collection tool used frequency (f) and percentage (%) . According to the findings, the vast majority of participants found that they read, read books almost every day, and thought they read enough. In addition, it has been determined that participants have a positive attitude towards reading, that they prefer to read more digital materials than lessons, that they prefer the type of adventure as a written type. In terms of the areas where reading is preferred, most participants prefer the bedroom at home, the classroom at school, and in the public area the city libraries. The participants who prefer to read with their mothers and share what they read with their mothers have found that they read because they think it is useful.
