Abstract:

Abstract: Aḥmad Amīn, lived in an environment where the effects of Western culture were felt, was interested in science from an early age. For this reason, in his later years as both a student and a teacher he left important works behind as a result of his researches. He is known as a historian of civilization but is also known for his literary personality. In his most voluminous works called Fajr al Islām, Duḥā al Islām and Zuhr al Islām, which he wrote on Islamic history and civilization he gave broad information about Islamic sciences. These works are known to be an important series as they contain information about other sciences as well as being a reference source on Islamic history. In the sections of the mentioned works on the science of ḥadīth, basic ḥadīth information, history of ḥadīth, fabrication of ḥadīth and criticism of ḥadīth are mentioned in detail and some criticisms are made. In the present study, the Aḥmad Amīn’s understanding of the science of ḥadīth is mentioned, however he has been occasionally criticized and some of the issues he criticized are explained. As a result, when these criticisms are examined, it is understood that the author was under the influence of the some orientalists.
