Sezai Karakoç, kendisini, İslâm medeniyetinin her alanda yeniden yükselişi ülküsüne adamış çağdaş bir şair ve mütefekkirdir. Diriliş kavramı etrafında şekillenen düşüncesinin somut bir yansıması olarak İslâm edebiyatının önemli klasiklerini günümüz Türkçesine aktararak yeniden gündeme getirmeye özel gayret sarf eden şairin bu çabası, ağırlığını Arap edebiyatı ürünlerinin teşkil ettiği İslâmın Şiir Anıtlarından adlı kitabının doğmasına vesile olmuştur. Kitapta tercümesine yer verilen ilk şiir, Kâ‘b b. Züheyr’e ait Kaside-i Bürde (Bânet Su‘âd) adlı eserdir. Bu makalede, Karakoç’un hem Kâ‘b b. Züheyr ve Kaside-i Bürde’ye bakışı ele alınmış hem de şairin Kaside-i Bürde tercümesi ilmî ve edebî bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuştur.
