Interest in the history of accounting in Turkey is not too old. Some professionals have a few works since the ancient times. But towards the end of the 20th Century, this interest has increased and in 2004, the 2008 World Congress of Accounting Historians was decided to be held in Turkey. Turkish academics were conducting the preparation of the congress, participated in congresses and conferences in various parts of the world to promote the congress and the culture of region accounting history until 2007. Regional countries and other countries have shown a keen interest to world congress organized in Istanbul in 2008, and the total number of participants were 670 (255 are from 54 countries), the number of paper was around 240 (130 are from abroad). Interests of the academics’ and researchers’, who are from the countries of Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East and Asia, in the history of accounting have emerged in the world congress and as a result of this interest, the nature of the first trial of the Balkans and the Middle East Countries Accounting and Accounting History Conference was organised in 2007 in Edirne, and second one organised in 2010 in Istanbul, and the third one have been decided to be organised in 2013. World Congress and subsequent international conferences in the area of current accounting culture was born in the ability to introduce world more quickly, and many more academics and researchers have become interested in the history of accounting. It appears that the interest will continue to increase thereafter.
