Abstract:

Today, the media bodies, on the one hand, are stuck in the direction of ethical codes and on the other hand, in the ability to obtain profits, which is the primary goal of each business. In cases where there is no control and control mechanisms, removal from ethical codes is a common situation in these two. In fact, the news about the crime in society is more likely to occur. In this study, it was attempted to reveal how much news in the media consists of professional ethical codes, in this context the ethics of the KKTC media was questioned. The research has primarily focused on ethical practices towards KKTC media. Later, the news of the "courage case" that raised a large rise throughout the country was analyzed by linking to these practices. The abortion case relates to the termination of pregnancies that are far beyond the legal period in a clinic in Girne, and is a case that has gathered great responses in the public. The examples of the study are news on the topic published on the internet on February 26-1 March 2016. In the study, the methods of qualitative research have been used for visual analysis. According to the results of the analysis, the professional ethics was neglected while the relevant news was given. In KKTC, the Media Ethics Board, which was created to ensure media ethics, published the "Journalism Professionals Principles" in contrast, followed an attitude, the news and the comment were mixed.
