The digitalization of communication and social media platforms have transformed the profession of journalism and the work of journalists. The decrease in the advertising and sales revenues of print and print media organizations leads to the closure of newspapers in a physical sense. In addition, working journalists are unemployed or deprived of their social security rights with low wages. For this reason, in the study, it was assumed that the journalism profession lost power in the face of digital media platforms. digital media has the advantages of speed, interaction, low cost and global communication. However, information pollution, ethical and reliability issues create short-term populist agendas. In the study, it is suggested that the need for professional journalists and journalism practices (file/news tracking, filtering, news verification, public discussion, etc.) who can use technology will increase in the future. The study focuses on the effects of digitalization on journalism practices. The data obtained from the literature review were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. It is expected that the study will contribute to the Turkish literature and open a discussion area for the future of the journalism profession.
