At the beginning of the twentieth century, modernist writers turned away from the traditional representative expression of reality, with new experimental narrative techniques to the inner worlds of characters and to the inner thinking flows. The narrative techniques used in modern English literature are presented by authors in both similar and different forms, giving each author the original writing technique and method. This study, using a comparative method, provides a synthesis by studying the types of narrative techniques that Woolf and Joyce, the two most important original authors of the modern novel, use. With Woolf’s sensitive, circular and curved female narrative and Joyce’s limited pointing signs, the rational, linear and cinematic narrative is an example of this distinction. Also, Woolf's existence narrative technique is both similar and separated with Joyce's manifestation (epiphany) technique. Both writers also reveal the spiritual experiences of the characters, the emotions and the flow of consciousness, with their narratives, which are flowing as a river in a different style, style and method, forward and back in a single day. In this context, this article aims to compare the similarities and differences in the writing techniques of Virginia Woolf and James Joyce, two leading writers who are skillfully using modern narrative techniques such as conscious flow, internal monologue, free indirect speech, manifestation (epiphany), moments of existence.

Woolf‟s sensitive, cyclical, and spiral female narrative and Joyce‟s rational, direct, and cinematic narration with limited punctuation marks are examples of this distinction. In addition, Woolf's existing narrative technique both resembles and differs with Joyce's epiphany technique. Both authors reveal the spiritual experiences, emotions and flows of consciousness of the characters with their narratives that fit into a single day, going back and forth in a fluid time like a river through different styles, styles and methods. In this context, this article aims to compare the similarities and differences in the writing style of Virginia Woolf and James Joyce, two pioneering writers skillfully using modern narrative techniques such as the stream of consciousness, interior monologue, free indirect speech, epiphany, and moments of existence in modern English literature.
