The issue of case regarding conjugation of nouns in Turkish has not been scrutinized in detail. Researchers have not been able to give a specific and exact answer about how many cases there are in Turksih and criteria regarding determiming the system of cases have not been shed on light. However, case that can be regarded as a sheer relation between noun and verb is inevitable for a sentence. In addition, case is of paramount importance to verbs, gerunds, nouns derived from verbs and even nouns associating verbs. Abstract verbs that gain concretenss and “reality” through cases have been conceptualized with the term actant. Identifying verb-actant, gerund-actant and noun-actant are necessary especially for syntax studies.
