Abstract:

This study aims to study the tendencies of high school students to seek aid in their active participation and learning process according to gender and class variables and to identify the relationships between effective participation and seeking aid. The research in the scan model was carried out with the participation of 1240 high school students, including 607 girls and 633 men, who studied in the central district of Sivas in the 2013-2014 year. The data of the study was collected by the Effective Participation Scale and the Appeal Scale in the Learning Process. In the analysis of the obtained data, the t test, the one-way variance analysis and the Pearson correlation ratio were used. Research results showed that the student’s state of effective participation changes in a negative direction as the class level rises. Research finds that sixth-class students give themselves more while eighth-class students experience more dissatisfaction. According to the findings obtained in the study, the effective participation of high school students and the situation of requesting assistance were studied by gender and found that girls were different in favor of students. Girls students give themselves more lessons than boys, and they ask for effective help. Men’s students experience more disappointment, and they are seeking superficial help and avoid seeking help. The tendency of students to seek help also varies depending on class level. Students tend to ask for help according to the class level in the surface request for help and avoid asking for help. There was a difference in class. There is a meaningful relationship between the student’s effective participation and the tendencies to seek help. Students who give themselves lessons are asking for effective help, the increased dissatisfaction increases the avoidance of asking for help and the surface asking for help.
