Abstract:

With the changes in travel trends in recent years, cultural heritage areas have become a major attraction for tourists, while cultural heritage tourism has also become a growing market over the day. Historic buildings, architectural works, archaeological structures and cultural traditions, which remain from the past to the present, are an important part of the tourism industry. The Western Black Sea Division has significant potential in terms of tourism due to its historical and cultural heritage. In fact; the city founded by the Persian princess Amastris, the city of Amastris, the Prusias ad Hypium, called the Ephesus of the Black Sea, the name from the waterperry Sinope, the Hadrianoupolis, known as the Zeugma of the West Black Sea, the name from Heracles, the unbeatable hero of Greek mythology, Heracleia Pontika, the capital of Paflagonia, Pompeiopolis, and the name from the founder Priest Tios, the ancient towns of Tios are the important cultural heritage sites located in the area. The aim of this study is to explore the ancient cities located in the West Black Sea Division in terms of cultural heritage and to reveal the tourism potential. The archaeological work that is ongoing in order to develop cultural heritage tourism in the West Black Sea Department must be completed in time and promoted effectively by opening these areas to tourism.
