Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the relationship between the academic, social, emotional and general levels of self-sufficiency in adolescents and the levels of depression and anxiety and to determine whether there is age and gender difference between these variables. The research is in the relational scan model. The work group consisted of 240 students from five secondary schools, sixth, seventh and eighth classes, which were randomly identified associated with the National Education Directorate of Ankara. The study used the "Self-capability scale for children" and the "Anxiety and Depression scale for children". In the analysis of the data, "Pearson Moments Collapse Correlation Technique", "Test Analysis for Independent Groups" and "One Direction Variance Analysis (ANOVA)" were applied. Statistical analyses have shown that with age the levels of academic, emotional and general self-sufficiency decrease, and the levels of social phobia, panic and depression increase. It has been seen that girls, compared to men, have higher academic and general self-capacities, separation concerns, obsession compulsions, and general concerns. As academic self-sufficiency in adolescents decreases, social phobia, panic, general anxiety and depression symptoms increase; as social self-sufficiency decreases, the fear of separation increases; as emotional self-sufficiency decreases, social phobia, obsession-compulsions, panic, general anxiety and depression increases. The findings were made in the light of the recommendations.
