Abstract:

Values are important principles that should be taught to children starting from the preschool period. In addition to transferring these principles from life, we can also realize them by using different tools. Children's books are used as an effective tool that we can use in this transfer. Qualified products of children's literature will both create artistic taste and support personality development with educational messages and values. This study aims to reveal which values are covered in the five value-themed books written by Nazlı Eda Noyan for children and whether the ten root values determined by the Ministry of National Education in the Turkish Language Teaching Program (2019) are included in these books. In addition, other values emphasized in the works are also stated in the study. Within the framework of this purpose, it is aimed to contribute to the literature by examining the values processed in the books determined. The values of justice, honesty, friendship, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, helpfulness and patriotism included in these books were analyzed; When the results were examined within the scope of this research, the most covered value in the five books was Justice, followed by solidarity and responsibility, respectively. 29 different values were identified in the works and it was determined that all of the root values were processed.
