Abstract:

The aim of our study is to study athletes who participate in the 2019 rafting world championship’s athlete identity levels in terms of some variables. The universe of the study is made up of athletes who participated in the 2019 rafting world championship, while the sample is made up of 100 athletes, including 64 men and 36 women who participated in the 2019 rafting world championship. For the purpose of determining the demographic information of the participants in the study, the personal information form and the sports identity scale form developed by Breser and Cornelius (2001) and turquoise by Öztürk and Koca (2013) were used. The size consists of 7 matters and 3 sub-dimensions. The sub-dimensions are the sub-dimensions of social identity, the sub-dimensions of limitation to sport and the sub-dimensions of negative sensitivity. The frequency (f) and percentage (%) distribution of the variables were calculated and the Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal Wallis test and t-test were taken advantage of. The error level in the study is p<0,05. According to the findings of the study, athletes who participated in the 2019 rafting world championship athlete identity scale under-dimensional points, the social clinical sub-dimensional score average was 5,68, the sport-limited sub-dimensional score average was 5,57 and the negative sensitivity sub-dimensional average was 5,63 above the average in all sub-dimensional points and the athlete identity perception levels were high. Athlete’s identity perception scale is 5.64 and athlete’s identity perception levels are high. It can be said that the high levels of athlete identity perceived by the athletes who participate in the competition are due to their national athlete level and their country’s best athletes.
