Türk dilinin sorunları ve meseleleri Tanzimat döneminden itibaren Türk aydınları tarafından çeşitli yönleriyle yoğun bir şekilde tartışılmaya başlanmıştır. Türk dilinin adı, Arapça ve Farsça ile ilişkisi ve Türk sözlükçülüğünün belli noktalarda kusurları bu meselelerin başında gelmektedir. Şemseddin Sami bu konulara çeşitli yazılarında el atan en önemli fikir sahiplerinden biri olmuştur. Türk dilinin adı, Türkçenin sadeleştirilmesi, Arapça ve Farsça ile ilişkisinin nasıl olması gerektiği konularında önemli öneriler ve çözümler sunan Sami, Türk sözlükçülüğü sorunlarını detaylı bir şekilde ele almış, Türk sözlüğü çalışmalarını geliştirmek için yeni anlayışları ve uygulamaları meydana getirmiştir. Bu makalede Şemseddin Sami’nin kaleme aldığı Kamus-ı Türkî ve Kamus-ı Arabî makalesinden hareketle Sami’nin dil ile ilgili ve özellikle sözlükçülüğe dair olan görüşleri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Makalenin sonunda söz konusu olan ve Servet-i Fünun’da yayımlanan makalesinin çeviri yazısı sunulmuştur.
The problems and issues of the Turkish language have since the Tanzimat period begun to be intensely discussed by the Turkish lights in various aspects. The name of the Turkish language, its relationship with Arabic and Persian, and the defects in certain points of the Turkish dictionary come to the forefront of these issues. Shemseddin Sami has been one of the most important thinkers in his various writings on these topics. The name of the Turkish language, the simplification of the Turkish language, the Arabic and Persian relationships should be important suggestions and solutions, Sami has detailed the problems of the Turkish dictionary, created new concepts and practices to improve the work of the Turkish dictionary. In this article, Shemseddin Sami’s text was moved from the Kamus-i Turkish and Kamus-i Arabic article to try to reveal the views of Sami’s language and especially the dictionary. At the end of the article, the translation of the article that was on the subject and published in the Fünun.
