Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between transparency in schools and organizational cynicism levels according to teachers' opinions. The sample of this study, which was conducted in the relational screening model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, consists of 336 teachers selected by simple random sampling method among 2465 teachers working in public schools in the Avcılar district of Istanbul in the 2018-2019 academic year. Data in the research; It was collected through the Organizational Cynicism Scale for Teachers, the School Transparency Scale and the Personal Information Form prepared to determine demographic characteristics. Descriptive statistics techniques, independent sample t-test, Mann Whitney-U test, one-way analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA), PostHoc-Tukey test and correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings, it was determined that school transparency levels were high and teachers' organizational cynicism levels were low. It was determined that organizational cynicism levels did not show a significant difference in terms of gender, age, professional seniority, marital status and branch variables. It was determined that there was no significant difference in school transparency levels in terms of gender, age, professional seniority, marital status and branch variables, and only a significant difference was found between the scores of the evaluation transparency sub-dimension in the professional seniority variable. However, it has been determined that there is a moderately significant negative correlation between teachers' organizational cynicism levels and school transparency levels. Accordingly, as the level of school transparency increases, the organizational cynicism level of teachers decreases.
