Abstract:

This study was carried out in order to reveal the attitudes towards the lesson and the problems faced by the classroom teachers who are responsible for conducting physical education and game lessons at primary school level. A total of 468 classroom teachers working in various schools in the province of Hatay voluntarily participated in the study. In the study, "Classroom Teachers' Physical Education Lesson Attitude Scale" and "Clasroom Teachers' Physical Education Lesson Problem Scale" developed by Yıldız (2010) were used. The significance level was accepted as (p) <.05. Independent sample t test was used for paired group comparisons and one-way variance analysis (Anova) test was used for comparisons of more than two groups. When the findings of the study were examined, no significant difference was found between the classroom teachers' attitudes and problem situations and the variables of gender, occupational seniority and weekly exercise time (p>.05). As a result, it was determined that the variables of gender, professional seniority and weekly exercise time did not cause a significant difference on the teachers' attitudes towards physical education and game lessons and the problems they encountered in this lesson. In addition, it was determined that while the level of perceived problems by female teachers in physical education and game lesson was higher than that of male teachers, new teachers' attitudes towards the lesson were more positive. It was also found that the attitudes of teachers who do not do exercise regularly were low and their perceptions of the problem they encountered were high.
