Ev Ortamı Tarama Aracı: Küçük Çocukların Ev Ortamlarının Değerlendirilmesi

Bu çalışmada küçük çocukların ev ortamlarının kalitesini değerlendirmek amacıyla kullanılan Ev Ortamı Tarama Aracı (3-6 yaş formu) Türkçe Formunun psikometrik özellikleri ve ev ortamının kalitesi ile ebeveyn ve çocuklara ilişkin değişkenlerin ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Veriler Demografik Bilgi Formu, Ev Ortamı Tarama Aracı ve Yeterlik İndeksi ile küçük çocuğa sahip 306 anneden toplanmıştır. Aracın psikometrik özellikleri açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizleri, madde analizi ve iç tutarlık katsayısı ile araştırılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre; aracın Türkçe formu 12 maddeden oluşan tek faktörlü bir yapıya sahiptir ve psikometrik özellikleri kabul edilebilir düzeydedir. Ayrıca, ev ortamı kalitesi ile annelerin eğitim ve gelir düzeyi arasında orta düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki vardır; düşük kaliteli ev ortamlarındaki ebeveynlerin eğitim düzeyi ve gelirleri diğer gruba göre anlamlı düzeyde düşüktür. Çocukların gelişimsel işlevleriyle ev ortamlarının kalitesi arasında anlamlı ve ters yönde ilişki vardır, gelişimsel işlevleri az olan çocukların ev ortamları yüksek işlevli çocukların ev ortamlarından daha az kalitelidir. Çalışmanın bulguları, aracın Türkçe formunun psikometrik özellikleri ve hem tıp hem de eğitim alanında kullanılabilirliği çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır.

Home Environment Scanning Tool: Evaluation of Small Children's Home Environment

Abstract:

This study examined the psychometric characteristics of the Turkish form and the quality of the home environment and the relationship of variables related to parents and children used in order to evaluate the quality of the home environments of small children. The data was collected from 306 mothers with a small child with the Demographic Information Form, Home Environment Scanning Tool and Qualification Index. The psychometric characteristics of the vehicle have been studied with detection and verifying factor analysis, material analysis and internal consistency ratio. According to the results of the analysis, the Turkish form of the vehicle has a single-factor structure consisting of 12 items and its psychometric characteristics are acceptable. In addition, there is a meaningful relationship between the quality of the home environment and the education and income level of mothers; the education level and income of parents in low-quality home environments are significantly lower than the other group. There is a meaningful and reverse relationship between the developmental functions of the children and the quality of the home environments, the home environments of the children with low developmental functions are less quality than the home environments of the high-functional children. The findings of the study were discussed in the framework of the psychometric characteristics of the Turkish form of the vehicle and its availability in both the field of medicine and education.

In this study, firstly, the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Home Screening Questionnaire (3-6 years form), which is used to evaluate the quality of the home environment of young children, was examined, and then the relationship between the quality of the home environment and the variables related to parents and children were examined. Data was collected from 306 mothers of young children by using Demographic Information Form, Home Screening Questionnaire and Abilities Index. The psychometric properties of the instrument were investigated by exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, item analysis, and internal consistency coefficient. According to the results of the analysis, the questionnaire is a single factor instrument consisting of 12 items and its psychometric properties are at an acceptable level. There was a moderate and significant relationship between the quality of the home environment and the level of education and income of the mothers and the level of education and income of the parents living in low-quality home environments were found to be significantly lower than the other group. In addition, there is a significant and negative relationship between the developmental functions of children and the quality of the home environment. The home environment of children with lower developmental functions was found to be less favorable than the home environment of children with higher functions. The findings of the study were discussed in terms of the psychometric properties of the 12 items Turkish version of the instrument and the utility of the instrument in both the medical and educational fields.
