Abstract:

Digital game addiction, which is a mental health problem, is a serious risk factor especially for children and adolescents. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between digital game addiction and family life satisfaction in adolescents. The research group consists of 385 adolescents, 210 of whom (54.5%) are female and 175 of whom (45.5%) are male. The ages of the participants are between 14-18 and their average age is 15.53. Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents and Family Life Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools. Data were analyzed by t test, ANOVA, Correlation and Regression. According to the results of the analysis, there is a negative relationship between digital game addiction and family life satisfaction. While male' addiction to digital games is higher than female, family life satisfaction of female was found to be higher than male. While digital game addiction did not differ significantly according to the class level, it was found that family life satisfaction differed significantly according to the class level. In addition, it was determined that family life satisfaction predicted digital game addiction. The results of the research were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions were made to practitioners and researchers.
