Abstract:

This study has studied the effectiveness of class management training given to class teachers on non-class behaviors that primary school students show in classroom. The participants of the research in which the multi-extraction model is used from one-level research models between participants is the students of these teachers with three primary school class teachers working in a primary school in Eskişehir Center. The criteria were taken into account when determining participating classes for the study were the finding of students with specific needs or behavioral problems in the classroom and the intensity of non-class behaviors. In the study, class teachers were given class management training individually with the Preventive Class Management Training Programme (ÖSYEP), which includes effective class management strategies that can be used in classes prepared by Güner (2010) and implemented by the mixing application. After the training, class observations were made to teachers about class management behaviors and the relationship between these behaviors and student behaviors. For the purpose of collecting the research data, the Planned Event Control Record used to collect data about group behaviors was used by researchers on the basis of the Non-Curricular Student Behavior Observation Form prepared. The student's percentage of students who have collected data while processing the lessons in the classes of the participating teachers with the form is calculated and showed non-class behavior for each course. The findings of the study showed that the study’s education was effective in reducing students’ out-of-class behavior and that the reduction in students’ out-of-class behavior continued after the study was completed. The data of the research is summarized and the application of the classes conducted has been discussed in the context of the importance of class management and future research.
