Abstract:

It constitutes one of the topics most researched in the field of journalism, in which the problems affecting the vast majority of society are presented in written and visual press. One of the methods used to reveal how news is presented in the press is the framework analysis. Framework analysis, which mainly indicates that news is created according to specific frameworks, is widely used in communication research, in the discovery of the impact of ideological differences between news organizations on news framework. From here, the aim of this study is to reveal that the news about the Covid-19 pandemic process which has influenced Turkey and the world’s public in a strong manner is carried out in the Turkish written press. The study, based on the tirage figures in accordance with this objective, examined the news presented between March 9th and April 5th, 2020 in the Speaker, Sabah, Hürriyet, Turkey and Republic newspapers with different ownership structures and ideological attitudes. The study ended with the fact that in the news, the definitions of war terminology were often preferred in terms of language; in the framework used in the news, the framework of security, responsibility, action and outcome was highlighted. In the distribution of the framework used according to the newspapers, it has been found that the ideological positions that the newspapers possess are effective.
