Abstract:

Summary: In the Turkish poem of the Republic Period, Attila Ilhan’s poem, which has exceeded a half-century (65 years) as a “I” poet and a “socialist” poet, is discussed in three basic stages: the “socialist transitional stage” (1941-1954) where war, freedom, exploitation, love for man/humanity, and the “neoclassical period” (1968 after), the “depressional stage” of the city man and the “such as the individual questioned his own existence and his place in the universe” (1954-1968) and the “neoclassical period” (1968 after).  The first poem book published in 1948 "Durvar" is the product of the first universe that the poet, in large part, has received the name of the important pioneers of social realism in Turkey under the influence of Nazım Hikmet. The poems in this book are in general. The limitation of the freedom of mankind by the World War, the suffering of the country undefined to all the peoples of the world, and with them the hopes and desires for the future of mankind, such as “peace for the country and the world; freedom and happiness for all men.” Specifically, social themes such as “global”, “liishan”, “public suffering song”, “they accuse us”, “the man who makes the source in the darkness”, “love in the harp lift”, “up to the morning”, “falled Polish castle”, “marianne”, “diliyar”, “li marlen”, “heyamol” – some relatively long-poems, usually, the war calls for freedom love/determination, prison, death. In this study, the poem "The Wall", which also named the poet's book, was evaluated under the headlines of mentality, structure, theme, language-simplification and harmony.
