Mutezile, Şia, İbazıyye gibi mezheplerin hadis anlayışlarına dair çalışmalar devam ederken geçmişten izler taşıyan, şartlara göre eklektik unsurlarla yenilenen ve kısmen farklı boyut kazanan dinî akım, grup ve hareketlerin hadis hakkındaki yaklaşımları da modern dönemde müstakil incelemelere konu olmaktadır. Bu minvalde yapılacak araştırmalarda, ilmî sürekliliği sağlayan şahısların belirlenip görüşlerinin mümkünse kendi eserleri üzerinden yansıtılması beklenir. Sosyo-kültürel ve siyasi ortamın, incelenen fikir yapısı üzerindeki muhtemel etkilerinin sorgulanması ve böylece benimsenen görüşlerin şekillenmesindeki faktörlerin tespiti bir diğer beklentidir. Mazhar Tunç’un Suud Selefîliği: Hadis İlmi Bağlamında Bir Araştırma adıyla neşredilen doktora çalışması, modern dönem Selefi düşüncenin hadis anlayışını Suudi Arabistan örneği üzerinden ele almaktadır.

The questioning of the potential impacts of the socio-cultural and political environment on the thought structure being studied and the identification of the factors in the formation of the adopted opinions is another expectation. Mazhar Tunç's doctoral study, named A Research in the context of Hadis Science, addresses the understanding of the Hadis of the modern era of Selefi thought through the example of Saudi Arabia.
