Abstract:

Self: Hearing is the process of perceiving and identifying sounds from the surroundings. Being able to operate this process consciously is important for learning in school and academic success. Because learning experiences are insufficient, students may have difficulty distinguishing important information in the classes. Students can develop the skills to select the important information they need in the learning process, to identify the subject processed in the rested text and to determine the main idea. To do this, students need to develop their skills of understanding, selecting important information, recording and summarizing. In this study, selectively listening strategies are taught to improve students’ notes and summary skills. The study is designed in the form of action research in class, basic education 5. There are 23 students in two languages in class. The ability to record and summarize important information using listening texts for 8 weeks has been developed to improve students’ selective listening skills. At the end of the application, the students have developed their skills to understand what they listen to, and even 4 weeks after the application, they have not lost their skills. Students have also pointed out that after this application they can easily choose important information in the listening process, better understand the listening texts. The other teachers who entered their classes also pointed out that students were more careful in the classes after this practice, and that their learning speed and interests improved compared to their fellow classmates in other classes.
