Abstract:

This research was carried out to reveal the opinions of preschool teachers about creativity and the situation of including science activities that improve creativity in the preschool period in their plans. The sample group of the study consisted of 15 preschool teachers working in official kindergarten and kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Uşak. Preschool teachers in the research; "How would you define the term creativity?" and “Can you include science activities in your plans that will develop children's creativity? Why?" questions were asked, and the answers given by preschool teachers were obtained through a semi-structured interview form. In this study in which the case study method was used, the results obtained with the semi-structured interview form were evaluated with the descriptive analysis technique, and the data were analyzed by thematic analysis. In the findings of the research, it was seen that preschool teachers focused on the concepts of originality, innovation, genuineness, social acceptance and social utility, and producing different things or products in a free environment in their definitions of creativity. Considering the pre-school teachers' inclusion of science activities that improve creativity in their plans, it was seen that most of the teachers included science activities that improve children's creativity in their plans. In the study, suggestions for forward-looking science curriculum and science activity applications that will improve creativity are presented.
