Abstract:

Legal literacy means being able to read the sources of law correctly, understanding the legal terms correctly and being able to implement the rules about law. In our country, in the curricula of various courses based on social sciences in primary and secondary schools, the acquisition, concepts, skills and values of law take place. The purpose of this research; The aim of the course is to examine the curriculums of Social Studies, Life Science, Human Rights, Citizenship and Democracy Education, Law and Justice courses that are taught in primary and secondary schools in the 2018-2019 academic year in the context of law-related acquisition, concept, skills and value. In the research, document analysis method which is one of the qualitative research methods was used. According to the findings; 15 of the 143 acquisitions in the 2018 Life Science Education Program, 19 of the 29 acquisitions in the 2018 Human Rights Citizenship and Democracy curriculum, 23 of the 136 acquisitions in the Social Studies 4-7 curriculum, 33 acquisition is associated with legal literacy. In terms of concepts, skills and values, it is seen that the related courses include legal literacy. As a result of the research; Elementary School Human Rights Citizenship and Democracy Education course, Life Science, Secondary School Social Studies and Elective Law and Justice course acquisition and other program elements were examined within the framework of 2018 programs and it was determined that legal literacy was included in the curriculum.
