Kırgız tarihi, özellikle XIX. yüzyılın sonu ve XX. yüzyılın başına kadar olan dönemi, genelde yabancı bilim adamları tarafından araştırılmıştır. Fakat bu araştırmaların halka yeterinceulaştığı söylenemez. Böylece milletin tarih ilmî konulsundaki gelişmelerden ve yeniliklerden fazla haberi olmamıştır. Bu nedenle Kırgız halkı, tarihle ilgilibilgi ihtiyacınıını daha çok şecere ve rivayetlerle gidermeye çalışmıştır. Bunlar, sözlü rivayetlerin temelini oluşturmaktaydı. Resmi Kırgız tarihinin ilk yazarı olarak Osmonaalı Sıdık uulu tanınır. Onun çocukluk dönemi, “Kırgız tarihi hiçyazılmamıştır” gibi küçümseyici ifadelerin ezikliği altında geçmiştir. Bu sebeple, hayatını Kırgız tarihini yazmaya adayan Sıdık uulu, tarihçiliğe yönelmiş ve yaptığı ilmî araştırmalarının meyvesi olarak Kırgız tarihiyle ilgili iki eseri vücuda getirmiştir. BöyleceKırgız tarihinin ilk kitabını yayımlayan kişi unvanını da o kazanmış. Siyasi baskıdan dolayı vatanını, ailesini ve çalıştığı işini bırakıp da başka ülkeye kaçmak zorunda kalması, onun tarihçilik mesleğine ters tesir etmistir. İki eser vücuda getiren eğitimli bir insana ideolojik durumdan dolayı baskı yapılmıştır. Onun eserleri Sovyet sistemine karşı yazılmıştır görüşü sonucunda kapalı arşive atılmıştır. Müellifine ise zengin tabakayı (bay-zengin ve Manapları) desteklemiştir suç atılmakla milletine, toprağına, vatanına bir daha dönemez şartı konmuştur. Bundan dolayı Osmonaalı Sıdıkov ve onun eserleri 1890 yıllarına kadar toplum için ters bir görüş olarak algılanagelmiştir. Daha sonra zaman geçtikçe onun eserlerine ilgi artmasıyla Osmonaalı Sıdıkov’un geçmişi ve eserleri hakkında gün ışığına çıkmamış olan meseleler hala çoktur.Ancak Sıdık uulu yayımladığı iki eserinden sonra, tarihçilik mesleğini sürdürmemiştir. Ne var ki Kırgız tarihçiliğinin önderi olan bu insanın neden mesleğini bıraktığı konusu hâlâ cevaplanması gereken açık soru olarak ortada durmaktadır.

The history of the Kyrgyz people, especially during the late XIX and early XX century, was studied mostly by foreign scientists. In this regard, the people did not know, not only about the results, but also about any research endeavors. Most of the Kyrgyz people received historical knowledge from tales and legends of their ancestors. These creations, as one of the types of folklore, carried knowledge about the past of the Kyrgyz. The exception was the research activities of Osmonaaly Sydyk uulu, whose works were dedicated to the history of the Kyrgyz people. His childhood was held under the pressure of mocking remarks that "Kyrgyz people did not have history." Therefore, he dedicated his life to the study of the Kyrgyz history, and the result of his research was the publication of two books. Because of governmental pressure Sydykov had to run away to abroad leaving behind his Motherland, his family and work. The author of two works an intelligent personality was ideologically pressured and he was in persecution. His works were considered as they were against the government and were closed into the archive. The author was accused as he was agains the government and he was for the rich people? And it was an accusation which didnot give a piossibility to return back to his land. From this Sydykov O and his creative works till the 90-s of the XXth century were considered as an enemistic element for people. Ecven the uinterest to his works are growing, there are alot of not known facts in his biography. But his professional activity as a researcher of the history came to an end after these works. So this paper discusses the causes and factors contributing to this issue. The article deals with the creative choice of Osmonaaly Sydyk uulu, and his arrest by the Soviet power, which prevented him from becoming a professional historian.
