Abstract:

In America and England around 30 % to 50 % of children grow up in divorced families (Richards ve Dyson, 1982). A similar situation is also observed in Turkey. Divorce process, children and women problems and stress after divorce are most commonly investigated topics. However, after the divorce the fathers’ problems and their relationship with their children ignored and did not receive any attention. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to fill the gap in literature and explore the topic further. The divorce rate is also high in our country. Thus, there is a good number of fathers who are not able to see their children after divorce. Local and national-wide research shows that very few fathers are able to continue their relationships with their offspring. There are some social and personal factors that hinder father-child relations. In fact, fathers are also interested in their children live and would like to involve with their children’s live, but there are some factors that negatively effects this relationships and they involuntarily have to cut off their relationships. The problems that fathers goes through did not draw attention from social sciences. Thus, the purpose of this literature review is to focus on the issue of father-child relations after divorce. This articles aims at to investigate and explore possible problems that effect father-child relations. Related articles are collected and integrated in this literature review that may help school counselor or people involve in court mediation system in divorce cases.
