Bu çalışma, engelli kardeşi olan ve olmayan kardeşler arasındaki ilişkilerin karşılaştırılması amacıyla yapıldı. Verilerin toplanmasında Kardeş ve Aileyi Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Schaeffer Kardeş Davranış Değerlendirme Ölçeği Anne Formu ve Kardeş Formu kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubuna, zihinsel engelli çocuğun 8-18 yaşlar arasındaki normal gelişim gösteren 60 engelli çocuğun anne ve kardeşi alınırken karşılaştırma grubuna sağlıklı çocuğun 8-18 yaşlar arasındaki normal gelişim gösteren 60 sağlıklı çocuğun anne ve kardeşi alınmıştır. Engelli kardeşi olan grupta kardeş davranışı değerlendirme ölçeğinin nazik olma, uzak durma, empati, birliktelik-ilgili olma alt boyutlarında kardeş ve anne algılamalarına göre anlamlı farklılık bulunurken, karşılaştırma grubunda ise yalnızca nazik olma alt boyutunda arasında anlamlı bir fark belirlenmiştir. Engelli kardeşin olduğu grupta yaş değişkeni ile ölçek alt boyutları arasında anlamlı bir fark saptanmıştır.
This study was done with the aim of comparing the relationships between brothers with disabilities and non-brothers. The data collection used the Brother and Family Information Form, Schaeffer Brother Behavior Assessment Scale, Mother Form and Brother Form. The study group included the mother and brother of 60 children with disabilities who show normal development between the ages of 8-18 and the mother and brother of 60 healthy children who show normal development between the ages of 8-18 and the comparison group included the mother and brother of 60 healthy children who show normal development between the ages of 8-18 and the mother and brother of 60 healthy children. In the group of brothers with disabilities, the scale of brother behavior assessment is significantly different from the perceptions of brother and mother in the subdimensions of kindness, distance, empathy, association-relatedness, while in the comparison group there is a significant difference between the subdimensions of kindness only. There is a significant difference between the age variation and the scale subdimensions in the group of the disabled brother.
